CCTV & Video Surveillance Declaration
Ashton Estate Country Holidays uses CCTV and video surveillance systems for the purposes of safety, security, and the protection of our guests, staff, and property.
We use Blink camera systems in various locations where signposted across the estate. The only internal cameras are located in the following communal areas only:
- The Green Room – communal games room
- The Wicket Room – communal games room
There are no cameras in private accommodation areas, bathrooms, or bedrooms.
Lawful Basis
CCTV footage is processed under the legitimate interests lawful basis in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, specifically for safety, security, and incident prevention or investigation.
Monitoring & Access
- Cameras are not systematically or continuously monitored.
- Recorded footage is only reviewed if an incident, safety concern, or security issue arises.
- Access to CCTV footage is strictly limited to two authorised members of staff.
- Footage is not shared with third parties, except where required by law (e.g. law enforcement).
Data Retention
- Video recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Footage is not stored or retained beyond this period unless it relates to a specific incident requiring investigation, in which case it will be retained only for as long as necessary.
Your Rights
Guests have rights under UK data protection law, including the right to request access to personal data where identifiable. Requests relating to CCTV footage must be made in writing and will be handled in accordance with legal requirements and exemptions.
