Sadly my lovely time with the family came to it’s end on Tuesday and as of today some are back home in Germany and the Australian family are stopping off in Vietnam. The highlight of their trip to the UK most definitely our stay in Ashton at Chapel Farmhouse. As before it’s better than a home from home as it provides great space with such gorgeous and comfortable rooms. The welcome basket was such a big treat and resulted in delicious breakfasts and salads. The weather could not have been better as we made great use of the outdoor space and the little ones splashed about in a paddling pool. Mum and I took the opportunity to recharge our batteries one evening with a walk round the walled garden. Since last year great progress has been made and the garden is looking beautiful and offers a haven of peace and tranquillity with beautiful bird song at sunset. Although we didn’t play chess or boule they will I’m sure be enjoyed by many of your guests. The shepherd huts are all delightful and the little ones had great fun discovering the fairy glen, art/bird watching hut and play houses on our woodland walk. They certainly slept soundly in their prams on the way back from an afternoon of much fun in the woods. We were so grateful to Guido for showing us some of the other rental properties and that has given us food for thought for our next family get together. Huge thanks from us all!

Constable House turned out to be the perfect location for a family get together of 6 adults and 2 dogs. A very generous welcome basket of local goodies was just the start of our time here. The house is spacious, warm, comfortably furnished and exceptionally well equipped and it would be quite easy to just hunker down inside without venturing out on to the estate itself. But that would be a pity because there’s loads of interest in the surrounding area with woodland walks and a variety of activities in the various shepherd’s huts dotted around the woods. Although we had no children  with us it would be a great place for a holiday with active, inquisitive youngsters.

Further afield there is a lovely walk along the river into Oundle which has a number of independent shops and eateries.

If you’re looking to eat out in the evening the Montagu Arms at Barnwell and the Chequered Skipper in Ashton are highly recommended.

The visitor’s comments book show that there are many groups who return year after year to Constable House and we could certainly see why that was the case.”

The best country escape EVER – the three dairy units are all fantastic and the piece and quiet of the area is just superb. The whole family loved the holiday on the estate. Carol and her team do a great job managing the place!!!!

Three generations, together with our little pooches had a wonderful time staying in the St Leger Rooms in March to celebrate a special birthday.

It really is a special place, from the beautifully equipped and comfortable accommodation to the wonderful outdoor spaces. Our 5 yr old grandson will have a special memory as he finally mastered riding on two wheels!

Already booking a return visit.

My mum and I have come home from an absolutely fabulous stay with you this week and we are already wanting to book again for next year!

I think this is going to an annual event for us now! It’s the perfect location- stunning property, fantastic estate to explore, amazed by the amount of wildlife we saw this time and just so quiet (which is perfect for me given my hectic job) and the estate being so flat is perfect for my mum to be able to explore with confidence in spite of her mobility. It’s just fantastic and neither of us have any wish to even look for anywhere else to visit now!

What a wonderful weekend my 8 friends and I spent on the Ashton Estate this weekend staying in the Renaissance Rooms!  Such grandeur in a beautiful setting…we felt totally indulged!

The welcome hamper was the best we’ve ever had !  Packed full with crisps, crackers and fabulous cheeses- what a treat!!!

Talking of food, we loved the huge lounge and dining room which comfortably accommodated all 9 of us and we enjoyed chatting and putting the world to rights over long leisurely breakfasts around the fabulous table.

The grounds are beautiful and we made good use of the outdoor table and chairs, having been blessed with gorgeous weather.

We enjoyed wandering around the estate and were delighted to find the cricket pavilion where we played table tennis after earlier enjoying a game of boule – all good fun!

The staff at OHL were very friendly and easy to deal with.

We were very sad to have to leave but have decided that we will rebook for next year!

Thank you !

We were so lucky to find this beautiful country retreat for our wedding celebrations. First off, the property is within private land, and feel very safe to jog around and see the beautiful surroundings. We have a 3 years old daughter, and the courtyard has gate where you can close it up, so you are never too worried your child playing outside and wandered off into the woods. The property itself is very well maintained, beautifully curated, and with high quality standard of living. We rented The Constable, all the rooms are very spacious and beautifully dressed. Every corner of the house is very clean, and it really is a home outside home.

And what a bonus that almost every corner of the house is perfect for our wedding photos!! It’s god sent we were also able to hire a private caterer (Beetroot Catering), recommended by Carol for both our wedding reception and wedding breakfast. The food was so beautifully cooked, and everyone enjoyed both the surroundings and food so much! There’s none other private dining experience can compare to such as this one! In my opinion, it beats a wedding at a hotel, and we were so happy we did it this way, both private and the high quality of dining still maintained!

Carol has been giving us a lot of help to make sure our stay was a happy and memorable one. She is so easy to talk to, and it seems nothing is ever too much trouble, and made us all feel very welcome!

We highly recommended The Lady Rothschild Diary, and will definitely be coming back again!!! Thanks again!

Could not recommend these holiday houses more, a home away from home in the most stunning surroundings. Carol and the team go out of their way to facilitate your every need, and the value for money is infinitely better than a hotel.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Moreland Manor celebrating a 50th birthday with family and friends. A beautiful house, fantastic setting and very well equipped. Thank you so much! Highly recommended.

I should have written to you sooner, but I just wanted to say on behalf of all of us, that the clay pigeon shooting experience shooting with Danny was fantastic. We all absolutely loved it and it really complimented the weekend.
